Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network. The team often faces the challenge of needing fast, reliable creative support with a partner that fully understands their brand identity and can seamlessly collaborate with their internal design team.

By working closely with Cadent we were able to quickly respond to briefs, deliver high-quality work, and provide the team with flexibility they need.

This approach has kept Cadent coming back to us time and again, and we’ve now been working together successfully for over two years, supporting on a range of strategic and tactical campaigns - from creating stand-out brand identities to delivering event banners.

Solution

For the ‘Hydrogen Academy’ project, we were briefed to create a new brand identity and logo for the Cadent Educational Academy, developing skills around hydrogen as an energy source.

A core part of the brief was creating an engaging motif. It was important that the logo was distinct to and different from other projects in this space.

We were also tasked to develop a high-impact strapline to accompany the logo. We conducted a thorough analysis of other brands in this space, which we used to inform our design concepts, then working closely with the client to narrow down the creative to the most compelling route.

Using the Cadent colour pallet, we created a design concept that gave life to the branding, and paired it with the strap-line “Creating Skills for the Future”.

In addition to the final assets themselves, we also produced a simple set of brand guidelines, including design mock-ups, to provide direction for the use of the branding.

We’ve also worked with Cadent to deliver social media graphics, reports and website assets. Our historic work with them means we have the content, brand guidelines and assets to be jump straight into activation and deliver a high-quality result that fits perfectly with the brand.

An example of this is a partnership with the Imperial College London which required event material - we needed to jump into action for a fast turn-around ahead of an upcoming event at which a study was due to be launched.

The challenge with this task was the scale of the 100-page document, which needed to be designed in a different brand identity to their usual work. We took a deep dive into the College’s brand identity and built the document in a systematic way, creating a range of layouts and designs for the cover, contents, diagrams, graphs, title pages and dividers that met the brief.

Impact

In the last two years, we have delivered multiple projects and supported Cadent in many ways. This means we’ve become their go-to creative studio, essentially an extension of the client’s internal studio, always available and at hand for any design project they need us to support with.

Thanks to the size of our team, we have turned around work on the same day as the request, meaning the client can rely on us to solve any creative problem fast.
